It is an old wives' tale that unions accomplished anything for the workers in America. Unions never accounted for more than a minority of all workers -- in the 30% range at their peak. What improved worker's lives was capitalism -- companies competing for workes as the economy matured more and more into an industrial one. What unions did accomplish was to institute a permanent corruption of laror relations as union bosses' cats-paws in the government passed vile and despicable laws like the National Labor Relations Act, the racist Davis–Bacon Act, and the Norris-LaGuardia Act.
