Most organizations that last a long time fall prey to mission creep. Unions are no different. Once they succeeded in keeping monopolistic super corps from enslaving the American worker post Industrial Revolution, they just kept on rallying for more. Today they do nothing for the average worker, other than spend their dues. What good does a union make for a company on poor fitting like GM in bargaining for more benefits? Structurally they are already at a disadvantage, so saying, "pay me more and let me work less" isn't going to do anything for them other than make them GO UNDER. Just like Hostess. We can also thank public unions for the biggest failure in America... education!
