I can't tell if Mr. Williams is suddenly a proponent of Just War theory, whereby proportionality of response must be considered when defending oneself, but he may be. It begs the question: when facing an interminable existential threat, as Israel does daily, how much is too much? Is coexistence possible, and if it is deemed not achievable, is not a disproportionate response necessary to eliminate the threat? Think of it this way...without Israel's overwhelming response and build-up of forces at the Gaza border, would we even be trying to broker a truce? Seems to me that Mr. Williams wants us to suspend away reason and accountability. Juan...bottom line: No overkill, no brokered cease fire by the US and Egypt.
