One aspect of my biz is programming textbook CDROMs. I believe a necessary part of designing these CDs is to make them intuitive. A simple flow is often the last thing editors have on their mind. They're far more concerned with palettes and graphics than offering a student a simple and compact design that maximizes their productivity. I like to play a little game while working. The goal is to find more efficient processes to get a certain portion of a given page built. Minimizing keystrokes and mouse clicks is the way to increase your marginal product of labor. As the programming phase goes on each additional keystroke or mouse click that is eliminated can save hours of mundane work. Simplicity should be a goal for any business...
