I think the governors are on to something here. Clearly, the nominating process needs to be revamped. We got Bush Sr. and Bob Dole because it "was their turn." W was a fluke that came along at the right time and it worked. McCain just held on long enough to outlast everyone else and so he was nominated. The states should have a lot of say - and I wish the states still picked their senators.
