The GOP governors should lead the party. In fact, some of them should have stepped up and ran for the presidential nomination in '08. Although Romney would have made a far superior President than Obama, he was not a good campaigner and was almost uniquely unqualified given the contrived narrative Dems had been pushing since mid-2011 (that rich Wall St. types were to blame for every ill on earth since the dawn of time). And as York noted, there were too many unforced errors by Romney that played into the narrative and gave the media liberals additional ammunition to attack. The party had better learn lessons from 2012. If not, they will squander opportunities that could be ripe in 2014 (taking the Senate) and 2016 (taking back the WH).
