Fig trees were domestcated by men in the Mediterranean Sea region roughly the same time as rice was domesticated in Asia (perhaps 9-11,000 years ago). They're man-made breeds -- just like the domestication of corn, cats, cotton, turkeys, chickpeas, horses or tobacco. So how is it that fig trees wind up in the Garden of Eden section of Genesis (3:7)? They're man-made domesticated plants, not god-made.
