What some of you people don't understand is "limited warfare", meaning the goal of your military is not to absolutely destroy the enemy, but rather protect the population, so that it tends toward stability and friendship. Another term for limited warfare is police action, meaning your army is acting more like police than soldiers. You might not like Patreaus for his COIN strategy and all, but he probably is something of a genius in limited warfare. The problem is USA has hardly won any police actions. South Korea is about the only place it worked.
