I believe some of the "billions" in this article should actually be "trillions," specifically the 1.6 TRILLION dollars in tax increases and 2.4 TRILLION dollars in debt.
That makes the 68 BILLION in "easy" defense cuts a rounding error.
Two things need to happen to restore America's fiscal security:
The first is to get people back to work. We need more people paying taxes and fewer people collecting entitlements.
The second is for the federal government to stop spending money on things the federal government isn't supposed to be doing. Defense spending is specifically called out in the constitution. So, while I agree we should eliminate waste, the bulk of the cuts need to come from other areas.
