manufacturing processes. This is not really true, the jobs are just moving to more efficient, lower priced workers, both engineering and labor workers. The jobs are still there but are just moved to different companies that are not UNIONIZED. The Big Three companies still set the final standards and specifications. The real point is that rigid, archaic and inefficient labor practices mandated by UNION contract along with overpriced wages and benefits started this movement toward sub-contracting. It culminated with the bankruptcy of GM and Chrysler and the near death of Ford. The UNION wages, benefits, work practice restrictions, etc. made this model unsustainable.
