This topic is an exercise in futility at best and frustration at the least. Amending the constitution requires 3/4 of the states to vote in favor of any amendment. The smaller states, one of which I live in, will never vote to dump the electoral college. In their defense, going to a popular vote will force all the candidates to campaign in only the large population centers and any issues important to smaller cities and rural areas will never be considered.
