Robert Lopez and Robert Simmons have very convincing arguments over at AT it can't just be about the "numbers." Lopez in particular slaps the Republican Party for ignoring social issues. Leftians and Democrats everywhere are telling Republicans to stay away from social issues if they want to wind elections. Now why would they say that if they want to keep beating the GOP?
As Lopez puts it, if the GOP wants the coveted Latino vote and "break the 30% barrier in the Latino vote, dumping social conservatism might be a good way...to drop that share down to 15%."
