Environmentalists want us to reduce our carbon footprint, live, work and eat locally, use bikes, feet or mass transit to get around. However, the American public want to freedom to travel where they want, when they want, and however they want. This American public yearn for freedom is a problem for the environmentalists. So, if they make various means of travel more expensive, they can reign in that freedom-loving American public's desire to freely travel where they want. Reducing the supply of pilots and pilot flying hours, at a time when more pilots and pilot hours are needed, when demand is the same or increasing, will, using the economic law of supply and demand, increase the cost of air travel.
