There is no special right to secession because it is an understood right of the states according to the 10th Amendment. The Supreme Court ruling in Texas v. White is an example of an invalid ruling - as there is no ban against secession in the Constitution, nor any power ascribed to Congress regarding secession, the court had nothing on which to base its decision. It is reasonable to assume that if joining the union is voluntary, then maintaining membership is also voluntary.
