I see amnesty as possible if this time around it can successfully address the issue of illegal immigration. The mistake with the 1986 Reagan amnesty legislation is that it failed to stem the flow of illegals at the border. But if we support a new American Birthright Amendment, that establishing an Art. II, §1, cl. 4 natural born Citizen as a person born of two US parents, as the ONLY means of acquiring US Citizenship at birth, and treat all those covered under this amnesty plan as permanent residents, meaning: they can only vote once they become naturalized US citizens, five year hence...there might be a way. ex animo davidfarrar
