With respect to unintended consequences, how many people will be willing to invest the time and money it takes to obtain a medical degree if their earnings potential will be about the same as a truck driver? We're already seeing the results: My primary doctor scheduled me in to a dermatologist to have some pre-cancerous lesions checked out. I didn't get to see the dermatologist; all patients are examined and treated by "P.A's" which is nothing more than a registered nurse who took an extra year of schooling in dermatology.
