Rubio will headline the ticket in 2016. That we know. This week Rubio heads to Iowa to headline a fundraiser there, so he's already starting his campaign. Obviously, the GOP is confident that Rubio will help them get Latino votes. But being Latino in itself won't be enough. Just as making Michael Steele the GOP chairman did nothing to help the GOP recruit black votes. In order to appeal to the Latino's, Rubio will have to promise them legislation aimed at helping them. Which, of course, will HURT Rubio with the redneck base that the GOP counts on. So for the GOP, 2016 is looking even more difficult than 2012 was, at least in terms of how to balance all this reaching new demographics stuff.
