Considering the unconstitutional Keynesian debt based system our economy is presently managed under, any "type of economic nationalism" might not be the the best way to go. But if our economy were less managed by currency manipulation by both government and private interests as well, and true to constitutional mandates, tariffs and restrictions would be less about legally imposing personal preferences on purchases and really more about leveling the playing field of the market to protect native products and jobs. Needless to say though that there is always the possibility of abuse in said "leveling." But abuse is a possibility in any facet of government influence.
