The federal bureaucracy has grown at such a clip over the past 12 years that Northern Virginia is completely populated by federal employees and contractors, their legal and logistical tail, and a service sector that caters to them. Simply stated, it’s a region that has a vested interest in the never-ending exponential growth of Washington and in the process has become among the nation’s “wealthiest” areas. Face it Republicans – Virginia is gone. Even long time Republican stalwarts are teetering. Take a close look at Texas county by county. Today, Texas is basically where California was 40-50 years ago.
