I'm conservative, and I'm not wallowing in misery. I feel sad for the nation, simply because we've seen where Progressivism leads: more and more people stop pulling the wagon and climb on, until there are no longer enough "makers" to support all the "takers," at which point either austerity measures have to be implemented and people start rioting in the streets when the handouts stop. Fortunately, the Republicans hold the purse strings through the House of Representatives, so if any of them have any spine, they will hold the line on out-of-control spending. Better a little austerity now than a lot, with riots, later.
