Romney was every bit the weak candidate that Gingrich and Santorum predicted he would be. Obamacare never was an issue, as, indeed, it could not be. And the Republican establishment simply cannot defend free market principle because they really don't believe in them, as many prior Republican Presidents reveal. Neocon militarism cannot be justified by a cost-benefit analysis any more than Democratic welfare programs can be. But never expect any politician to be hampered by logic, experience or common sense. What most politicians want, and here is where Romney and Obama share common ground, is to govern and decreasing the size of government, federal spending or military presence reduces their power, and that works against their self-interest.
