This article overlooks large groups of people that were treated very badly in the 1950's. For middle class white folk life was good. You still had to work hard to make it. But it is so easy to forget about people who were really discriminated against. They were not part of the system, unless they were exceptional. We could talk about African Americans, women, and other groups. We had to adjust that situation out of justice. Inclusion has to cost the general population, that had to happen. Yes society is different now, in some ways it is much worse and in others it is much better.
