With respect to Federalism, despite the claims among even conservatives for its greatness, Federalism has never worked. It was a great shame the Confederate States of America did not win the War for Southern Independence, because the idea that a strong central government is a good government would have been defeated---not by the south winning the war, but by the south surpassing the north in growth and economic power, until the north had to give up its fascination with a strong central government. For those here who have been indocrtrinated in a faux history taught in all government schools, the north did not fight the war over slavery but over a strong central government and economics. Most of its revenues came from the south.
