Keynes keeps getting the blame for socialist deficit spending policy. He shouldn't. The liberals/socialists have perverted Keynes in the same way they pervert everything else. Keynes wrote that deficit spending is ONLY stimulative when it is temporary and when the economic periods prior to the deficit spending have created a surplus. That is not the situation we see ourselves in and Keynes remedy for our current situation would certainly NOT be more deficit spending as the liberals claim. Keynes, as opposed to most liberals, actually UNDERSTOOD economics and basic economic principles.
