Every state except for Maine and Nebraska have a winner take all system for allocating their electoral votes, thus creating the problem we have now that only 11 states are now in play. The rest of us be damned. The National Popular vote bill would be the icing on the cake for the large Metropolitan areas to seal the deal with the Democrat party. Instead of consolidating the vote, we should go back to what the founders intended, individual electors voting for the candidate they were elected to vote for. That would insure our liberty and the American way.
