This is another example of why we must do much more to prevent teen girls from getting pregnant. We must revive chaperoned dating. We must have more adult supervision so teens of opposite sexes aren't alone together. When a girl hits puberty, she should at least be offered the possibility of getting on an effective contraception such as the Pill, Depo-Provera or Norplant. One could also consider IUD although that's not as effective as I would prefer. Girls should always at least discuss the possibility of protection from pregnancy through either rape or impulsive sex. Perhaps if Chelsea had been on effective contraception, she wouldn't have gotten pregnant. She also wouldn't have gotten pregnant if she hadn't been alone with a male.
