Individual freedom is important to both Libertarians and Conservatives. Libertarians are farthe right than Conservatives. I equate them with the anti-Federalists of our Founding era. They felt that the Constitution still gave the federal gov't too much power. The Federalists believed they had found a good compromise between federal power and state power. Both groups set out their arguments in the Federalist Papers and the Anti-Federalist Papers. Give them a read.
Democrats - modern Democrats, that is - are Leftists who believe in a big centralized gov't telling everyone what to do (except in cases of abortion - although I think that if that became a problem for the State, they would reverse real quick and they would ban them).
