MSNBC does know the history of Mormons and humanitarian aid: http://worldblog.nbcnews.com/_news/2011/03/18/6292170-in-japan-the-mormon-network-gathers-the-flock The first part talks about how the Mormon Church assures everyone , especially their young missionaries, are safe in a disaster. The next half speaks to the vast network of humanitarian aid they provide. Yes, they have supplies cached throughout the world. I remember hearing about the Haitian earthquake and discovering the LDS church had a large cache of emergency supplies, including food and water, hygiene kits and first aid supplies, stored in the Dominican Republic that they were able to immediately transport these supplies over the border into Haiti.
