SMTC is an electronics manufacturer. Almost all electronics manufacturers have sent their operations overseas. This is not Bain's fault. It is in fact, Clinton's fault. When the electronics boom hit, Clinton opened the door to Mexico with Nafta, then he opened the door to China when he gave them most favored trade status.
Once a single company in a given industry sends their manufacturing to China, their products become cheaper than the competition and the rest must follow suit... or go out of business.
If a company like Bain came into SMTC, it means they were likely teetering on the brink of going under. The fact that they are still in business means that Bain succeeded.
