One of my kids hardly said a word until he was around 3 years old. This raised a flag at the early childhood screening our public school offers. He ended up going to speech at our grade school before kindergarten. Since that time, they have decided to build a GIANT building just to handle pre-school problems. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with the way it was done before. In fact, looking back on the entire thing, I'm not sure the speech class did a darn thing for my son. He was just a late talker. I wonder how many kids are getting "treatment" that don't really need it.
