This kind of thinking on the part of Todd Akin, or Richard Mourdock, or Mark Davis, is self-defeating. Whether the categorically, inflexibly pro-life crowd likes it or not, you are in a minority, and it is a shrinking minority. Worse, the "undecided," or "swing" voters who decide the outcome of elections are overwhelmingly ambivalent. They don't like the idea of abortion, but they hate the idea of politicians telling women that they may not terminate a pregnancy, especially after rape, incest or to save the life of the mother. So arguing your strong case based on what you see as God's position, inevitably elects the Democrat who favors unrestricted abortion. Stop talking. Just stop! Let conservatives win back the country.
