Look we all know exactly what happened in the situation room that day. EVERYONE knew exactly what was going on. The subject of sending in help came up, and some political hack such as Valerie Jarrett pointed out how bad it would look politically if the rescue went wrong. It was perceived as more politically palatable to mourn an attack on Americans than it was to actually try and stop it and risk failure. This is what Leon Panetta outright said to us yesterday. (Here's a hint. No, we do not need to know every piece of the situation before sending in help. We have quite a few HRT's and Special Forces teams dedicated specifically to doing this sort of thing. believe me their most common drill is "Embassy Rescue".)
