Actually BP bore the cost to clean up the gulf despite this administration's attempt to invoke the Jones Act to protect their union campaign contributors' interests, interfering at least at first with other countries' offers of equipment to assist in the cleanup. Mexico's state-run oil company had an even larger spill in the past, yet to this day did not mobilize much of anything to clean up after themselves...funny eh?
