Such a tragedy. So much ignorance. First, the uranium usage quoted is based on conventional solid fuel light water reactors, which WASTE 95+% of the uranium--it becomes part of the "nuclear waste". Second, breeder reactors still based on solid fuel generate more fuel, but still generate a huge amount of waste. Third, note that Russia, China and India are forging ahead with reactors (type not noted), but the USofA is stuck in neutral (see 35 year plan). There is four times as much THORIUM on earth as uranium. Thorium fueled liquid core reactors wil burn 99% of the fuel, making them 100 times as efficient. Clean, safe, economical Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors (LFTRs) will be on line in China before we get our heads out of our butts.
