Great article. Teddy Roosevelt was Deputy Secretary of the Navy before becoming President. He learned much from Navy Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan. His buildup of the US Navy during his presidency led to our ability to trade throughout the world by keeping the seas and especially the critical chokepoints open for world trade. The success of the US economy in the 20th century, unparalleled in human history, would not have occurred without the farsighted vision of Theodore Roosevelt in building up and employing our modern Navy. Let's not forget this lesson of history. Keep our Navy and our economy strong!
