Hi David, Thanks for your comments, but I would like to add a few things to perhaps clear up some misunderstandings for you and for others who may be reading. I am going to be brief, so feel free to ask questions. This quote comes from Luke 20, and is attributed to the Tribute Tax paid to a ruler to pay for the security and protection of the people. This does not in any way refer to the principle of church and state, which is also misunderstood, and I will explain briefly why. This comment by Jesus above is to not excuse a man from paying taxes where taxes are do and this comment wasn't expected by the scribes and chief priests who asked in order to trick him.
