I read recently in the UK Telegraph that as many as 138,000 elderly in Great Britain died unnecessarily last year. They were put on the Liverpool Care Path when they could have recovered completely and gone home. The reason they got put on the LCP? Well, it takes only about two weeks to expire after one has been put on the LCP. These 138,000 patients had conditions that would require six weeks or eight weeks in the hospital, plus physical therapy or other treatment upon release from the hospital. Better to just do away with them and free up a hospital bed!
