One of my friends who is a greeny mentioned that the mud slides in California are due to the fact the grass has a very shallow root. The rains come and without a strong root base everything slides. It was preposed that a grass from another part of California be planted because it has a deeper root and would help maintain the soil. It was voted down by the enviro wackos because they said it was not indigenous to the area. So because the grass was from a different part of California the slides and devistation will continue
