This whole article and almost every comment are ridiculous. The ability to control fertility, to decide whether and when to have children, has a great impact on women's participation in the economy. It's very difficult to hold a job when you have a pregnancy every year. And yes, I recognize that abortion is controversial, but how anyone in this day and age can say contraception is controversial is beyond me. Most American Catholics don't even follow the church's teaching on contraception. And, uh, access to contraception prevents abortions because it prevents unwanted pregnancies. So it's a win for people on both sides of the abortion issue.
