My response to the liberal friend, who also mentioned Koch in his rant:
1. This has nothing to do with Bush -- it has to do with an act of Congress.
2. The article was "Phony in Chief." It is the height of condescending phoniness to affect an accent to resemble that which is common to a group to which one speaks.
3. To vote as a Senator against something, know that the Senate voted for it, and then publicly and falsely condemn the Senate for voting against it is a master stroke of deceit, particularly despicable in light of its racially divisive purpose.
4. Why can't you stop with your Bush-Koch-Romney stuff for just a minute and focus on the fact that your hero is imperfect? It's healthy to acknowledge that.
