For being a finance guy, Mitchell does a pretty bad job of asserting his position because the 900 lb gorilla in the room is the fact that the majority of Americans have been actually losing both purchasing power and real income. So you can argue all you want about the illogic of Clinton's comments, but when you look at the amount of food a person has to pay for to survive, and the fact that the rich are doing fabulous, she doesn't sound as nutty as Mitchell would like to make it. The fact is that no nation ever became wealthy by penalizing the middle class--and that is what Mitchell is suggesting.
