I have no problem with compromise so long as it actually addresses the problems. Unfortunately, the Left (often with the help - sometimes intentional; frequently not - of moderates and even a few conservatives) defines the issues incorrectly in order to meet their own goals.
The classic example is spending. The Left (and the ill-informed) wish you to believe the problem is the deficit becasue then the "solution" can include tax hikes. But the problem is NOT the deficit, but the SPENDING itself which must be financed in one of three ways, all of which are economically detrimental: 1) direct taxation; 2) borrowing - removing resources from private credit markets; and 3) expanding the money supply - "printing money".
