"Native American"? (2/2)
Secondly, for an ethnic group to call themselves a native of the land that their ancestors inhabited is cause for confusion of their real identity because other people of different ethnicities can call themselves natives of this same land if they are actually born here. For instance, my ethnicity is Italian, but I was born in the State of New York so I, also, can identify myself as a Native American or as an American native. Or, if I want to use the false analogy that “Native Americans” want to use, I can identify myself as a Native Roman because my ancestors lived in the Italian peninsular that was a part of the Roman Empire.
