Though aspects of Chapman's column were infuriating, the unfortunate aspect of it is that parts are true. If Romney becomes president we may come to look upon this electoral campaign as the lesser of two battles--the second battle being to hold the new president to the conservative promises he made during the campaign. I dislike Obama as much as anyone, but has it occured to people that in the effort to see him defeated we're accepting too much liberalism from the man known as his opponent? This failure to see the big picture is, I think, the biggest reason why the U.S. has continually moved in a leftward direction, despite Republican presidents.
