You are mixing your concepts. If healthcare, social security etc. are fundamental pillars of society, where are they listed as rights versus wishes? They may be nice to have, but require that the government enact and control them; whereas your point about equal opportunity implies opportunity not outcome. Either you live in a controlled society or a free society; there are many examples of the first and few of the second. A little thought and research will show that the second is the superior choice not only for fairness, but particularly for the “American Dream.”
