When one listens to the secret video and understands the audience to whom Romney was addressing, it becomes evident that he was referring to the strategy of how he was going to spend his campaign dollars, rightly confessing that he wasn't going to waste a lot of time or resources trying to change the minds of voters who will never vote for a GOP candidate, but rather to focus on the base, but especially independents. In context, Romney was essentially saying he didn't "care" to waste time or money trying to push a rope up a hill. The lesson? Always assume there's a snake in the grass in the audience... and don't provide ammunition that can be so easily manipulated when out of context.
