It is harder for men to earn a living now. One of the reasons is more women in the workforce = more labor supply. And part of making a good living now may mean having to work long and odd hours, having to do lunch or happy hour with women, business trips, and being willing to move from city to city... these things are all much harder to do if married, and even more so if one has children. I watched as my own mother, completely unfamiliar with the modern office, gave my father trouble for long hours and his networking. He'd never cheat, but she couldn't understand that he HAD to network with women. I'm fully aware I have chose marriage and family over my own career dreams. I earn enough to support my family, thankfully, but by my actions...
