That is so true. We have a couple at our church (she used to be a social worker and he's a cop) who have 6 biological kids and have adopted 5 special needs kids through the foster care system. Two are in wheelchairs, one has Downs Syndrome, and the other two have cognitive impairments that result in being mentally like children. All but one of the special needs kids will live at home for the rest of their lives where they are loved and adored just the way they are. They are great people even if they're not "normal." They have good lives and are a blessing to everyone who knows them.
