Comparing oil to food is comparing apples to oranges. Although we have enormous oil reserves, there is a limit. Food can be produced year after year. The issue of energy independence is we've never had an administration Republican or Democrat willing to risk their political careers. Our politicians sell us out year after year on energy, whether it's nuclear, coal, or oil, and pour our money down the drain with schemes of solar and wind and whatever is the fashionale energy du jour. Our resources aren't the problem, our politicians are.
