Excellent column. The truth is the generation that gave America freedom also gave America the lazy, greedy children of entitlement. I always want to slap the parent that says I want my child to have life easier than I did and proceeds to create an entitlement brat. No, you do not want your child to have life easier, unless America today is your goal for society. Not unless you want loss of freedom, work and caring. Difficulty is what keeps people from becoming entitlement junkies. Difficulty is what teaches life skills. Hand outs destroy life skills, whether it be the government or the parent. I am not advocating dire poverty, of course, but rather people learn that they do have skills and can achieve goals, not live on handouts.
